In the first match of the Country Finals the winners of the Spring and Summer Split LowLandLions took on PSV Esports, who finished in second place each split. The winner would reach the Grand Final, while the loser would face the winner of match 2 in the semi-final.
First Blood went over to the LowLandLions as well as the first Dragon. PSV Esports did find multiple picks in the top lane and held a significant gold lead which grew to 5000 at 15 minutes in. PSV Esports started zoning LowLandLions away from objectives, while finding very favorable fights. After picking up the third Dragon PSV Esports also secured Baron, putting them on a 10.000 gold lead. Things didn’t last long after that as PSV Esports broke into the base of LowLandLions and found the final kills before destroying the Nexus. A 1-0 lead for PSV Esports.
The second game started off well for PSV, who found a lead in the mid lane with an early kill for Furuy and they took down the first Dragon. PSV Esports kept snowballing their lead, mostly through the Jayce played by Furuy who had a 6/0/5 statline at 20 minutes. Things went completely south for LowLandLions when they started a fight in the jungle ahead of the upcoming Dragon, where PSV Esports was able to find three kills, giving them enough time to end the game. PSV Esports reaches match point.
LowLandLions looked for an invade but it turned into a disaster as they were caught out by PSV Esports, resulting in two kills going over to PSV. LowLandLions kept trying to find kills in a game that was more about fighting instead of macro play. PSV Esports’ lead was almost insurmountable even at 15 minutes in, as they kept picking fights with LowLandLions and eventually took down the Baron. After running about in the base of LowLandLions PSV Esports end the game and they are the first team to qualify for the Grand Final.
The second match of the Country Finals was an important one, as the loser would be eliminated straight away. Team THRLL, who had a strong Summer Split but crumbled in the playoffs, faced Dynasty, who looked to prove themselves after a rather disappointing Summer Split following their surprising Spring Split run.
A lot of fighting early one resulted in a gold lead for Team THRLL and a Caitlyn-Morgana bot lane that got ahead. Jungler Lian did pull some gold back for Dynasty as he found three kills early. THRLL played through their bot lane while Dynasty focussed their efforts on the top site, aided by their fed Graves in the jungle. THRLL secured their second Dragon at 12 minutes into the game. Dynasty kept up with THRLL in gold however, finding a Dragon of their own and keeping THRLL from Soul Point. The Dragon remained the place to fight around as Dynasty found a great fight, picking up their second Dragon alongside two kills. A massive fight in the mid langs swings in the favour of THRLL, who can pick up the Baron and start sieging the base of Dynasty. Dynasty hung on by the skin of their teeth and the dance around the Elder Dragon began. A big fight broke out which was won by Dynasty, resulting in them picking up Elder and Baron shortly after. Team THRLL was unable to defend their base and with a final teamfight Dynasty picked up their first win in the series.
Things started off at a high tempo, with both mid laners picking up a triple kill, with only Silas staying alive. Dynasty kept finding picks through Silas and built a gold lead, while giving up the first two Dragons. The next two (mountain) Dragons went the way of Dynasty, while Team THRLL had difficulties finding favourable fights. Dynasty kept up the pressure and put themselves on Soul Point, picking up Baron afterwards following a strong fight in the mid lane. After sieging the base of Team THRLL Mountain Soul was next for Dynasty, after which Riron found three kills with his Jhin in the base of THRLL, ending the game. Match point for Dynasty.
Team THRLL started with a Dragon and looked more composed early on. Things started going wrong as Silas and Fatshield found kills with their Qiyana and Camille respectively, putting the top lane behind spectacularly. Dynasty kept playing through that top lane and Silas and Fatshield got more fed. After giving up the first Dragon to THRLL, Dynasty played out the match very cleanly, not allowing THRLL opportunities to get back into the game. Dynasty was able to keep Fatshield pushing in the side lanes while keeping THRLL busy, pressuring THRLL to give them space, which resulted in Mountain Soul and Baron. After one final siege Dynasty defeated Team THRLL for the third time, sending them home while qualifying for the semi-final against LowLandLions.
